McDonald’s and YouTube Marketing

I think this article by @pkafka about @McDonalds’ @YouTube ad used at @McD_Canada provides an interesting perspective on what is being perceived as a clever use of online video marketing. I disagree though, I think it’s brilliant and I do think McDonald’s has done a good job. Whether this ad is a memorable “masterpiece” or not, I think it can actually be used as an example of how online video marketing differs from TV and to clearly see some of the advantages that this new channel offers. It’s a relatively cheap and easy kind of clip to produce, which tells a story as Kafka says and reaches the masses. I think that should be quite a bit as to consider it successful. Plus, for them is not about impressing marketers, but about getting to their target audience. Have a look:
